More Dorset Planning Delays – And Land Searches Are Taking Five Times Longer

Dorset Council says they have now dealt with the delays in validating planning applications.

That’s the process of checking each proposal before the plans are published allowing neighbours and residents to voice their support or opposition. The delays have meant some residents and businesses have put planned work on hold, waiting several months more than expected for planning decisions.

Our report gives Dorset Council’s reasons for their backlog. But the Council says there are still going to be delays with land searches. They’ve not hit the government’s target since October 2020 and in North Dorset, searches are taking five times longer than expected.
