More Jobs, Lower Road Speeds – That’s Melbury Council’s Hopes For Guys Marsh Prison Expansion

The Melbury and Cann Parish Council chairman David Webber hopes plans to extend and upgrade Guys Marsh Prison will mean a reduced speed limit through the area.

Around 180 inmates will be housed in two blocks, and there’ll be additional ancillary buildings and a new solar farm built. Around 60 jobs will be created.

David has been into the prison for a meeting with officials and shared his thoughts with the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday. He believes the construction work will require a variation in speed limit and he hopes it might remain once the project is over.

Alfred was at Wednesday’s meeting.
