‘No Confidence’ In Shaftesbury Councillor – Another Member ‘Muted’ For Swearing And Offensive Gesture

Shaftesbury Town Council passed a vote of ‘no confidence’ in Cllr Karen Tippins last night.

During the meeting, several councillors alleged bullying and inappropriate behaviour by Cllr Tippins since her election late last year. The Chamber of Commerce chair spoke about that organisation’s petition demanding the councillor’s resignation.

Cllr Tippins refutes the allegations and challenged the council’s authority to call the meeting. During yesterday’s ‘Zoom’ meeting, the mayor temporarily excluded another councillor from the debate for swearing and making an offensive hand gesture.
