Persimmon Granted Public Enquiry Over Plans For New Shaftesbury Estate

There’s going to be a public enquiry over Persimmon’s plans to build 135 homes on the southern side of the A30, opposite The Maltings. The land is ring fenced for employment uses.

Persimmon has told Dorset Council they expect an enquiry to last four days and, if they win their appeal to the Planning Inspectorate, Dorset Council will need to meet their costs.

The developer appealed to the Planning Inspectorate because Dorset Council failed to determine Persimmon’s plans within 13 weeks. Their application was submitted in March 2019.

The council still hadn’t reached a decision on the proposal earlier this year.
