Back in 2018, the Boundary Commission proposed a new parliamentary constituency that would have tied Shaftesbury to Warminster.
The MP who won that seat would serve both Wiltshire and Dorset residents. The plan was not adopted, but now there’s a proposal to increase the number of MPs in the Shaftesbury area from two to three. And Semley will end up in a different constituency to The Donheads and Berwick St John if these proposals to split the current Wiltshire seat are adopted.
South-West Wiltshire MP Dr Andrew Murrison gave us his opinion when he visited constituents at Semley Village Hall yesterday.
