Shaftesbury Town councillors have unanimously voted to oppose the latest proposals for a new 162 home housing estate on the north side of Wincombe Lane.
The land was ring fenced for this use some time ago. This application is all about the design of the properties and how the estate will be laid out.
At Tuesday’s Town Council meeting, it was felt that mistakes from previous estate developments could be repeated again. There were concerns about drainage arrangements, meaning nearby farmland could be flooded and there’s just one access road for all of those homes.
Town councillors want Dorset councillors to determine this application, rather than planning officers.
