Shaftesbury Mayor Breaks Virtual Meeting Deadlock With Casting Vote – Twice

Shaftesbury’s mayor had to use his casting vote twice on Tuesday night to break deadlocks in the meeting to determine how the council will meet after 7th May.

The government won’t give permission for councillors to make decisions during online meetings after that date. The government’s decision is being reviewed as part of a legal challenge.

The Town Council has found a way to continue Zoom meetings, but they will have to change the way they operate to get around the restrictions. Listen to our report to hear more.
