Shaftesbury Town Council Allows Temporary Park Walk Parking For Hospital Staff

Shaftesbury Town Council has given Shaftesbury’s hospital staff permission to park eight cars on Park Walk – for free.

The hospital car park will be remodelled later this year to create more parking spaces and better access. Parking spaces will be lost temporarily during these works and the Friends organisation has stepped in to find a solution.

Town councillors were keen for staff parking their vehicles on Park Walk to display some kind of permit inside their cars. Councillors were generally cautious about granting permission for NHS workers to park on Park Walk for three months, because it is an ancient monument and this period coincides with the peak tourism season. But councillors were keen to support health workers, so the situation will be assessed each month.

There is a strict warning that permission will be removed if the agreement is abused.
