Shaftesbury Town Council Commits To Market Day Pedestrianisation

The High Street has been closed to traffic again today. The Town Council has committed to paying for pedestrianisation on market days, but only until the autumn, so far.

The pedestrianisation has cost over £23,000. Cllr’s Piers Brown and Alex Chase told Tuesday’s General Management meeting that it ‘was worth it’.

Piers said he hoped the temporary Thursday road closure wouldn’t be needed much longer. “Hopefully it will be superseded in time by permanent pedestrianisation supporting businesses and shoppers alike,” he said.
