Shaftesbury Town councillors have objected to plans for a major new housing estate on fields opposite BV Dairy.
Barratt was granted permission for developing this site, which lies between Wincombe Lane, Blackmore Road and Tolgate Park, in 2016. An estate may be built here, but town councillors were united in their opposition of the current Barratt David Wilson Homes proposal for 162 properties on this open land. They are concerned that residents will increase traffic on Wincombe Lane.
Town councillors also want sight of the section 106 agreement, which determines how much the developer will pay towards local infrastructure projects. And then there’s the smell. Members discussed Barratt’s report into the ‘odour’ created by a nearby commercial waste plant.
Dorset Council has the final say on the plans.
