Shaftesbury Town Council’s £140k Grant To Improve Sports Facilities And Five Years’ Yoga

Shaftesbury Town Council has secured a £140k grant to improve open spaces and enhance sports and wellbeing facilities.

Some of the money will fund the summertime yoga sessions each year until 2026. Part of the cash award is also expected to be used to improve the multi-use sports area behind Shaftesbury Youth Club on Coppice Street. It will provide a space for tennis and netball.

Cllr Karen Tippins complained that this grant was being spent in the west of the town, but Town Council business manager Brie Logan said all residents could use facilities. In our interview the mayor, Andy Hollingshead, said Shaftesbury is a small town and he’s tired of hearing the ‘east versus west’ argument.
