Smaller Plots Agreed For New Shaftesbury Allotments To Meet Massive Demand

Shaftesbury Town Council has agreed to plant trees or a high hedgerow as screening between the new A30 allotments and adjacent properties.

Some residents were concerned about noise and being overlooked. The council has increased the number of allotments which will be available fourfold, to 42 spaces. They have done this by reducing the size of the proposed plots. Six raised beds will be offered to less-able-bodied residents.

As you’ll hear in our report, there is huge demand for town council allotments and a lengthy waiting period if your name is on the list.
