Town Centre Flats Proposed For Supermarket Top Floor

The new owners of the Bell Street supermarket want to create five flats on the first floor of the building. The top storey had previously been used for supermarket offices.

Councillors debated this planning request. They raised concerns about the availability of parking for the flat residents and whether it was wise to back the change of use of the upstairs space to residential.

Opinion was divided, but councillors eventually decided to offer ‘no comment’.
