Two More Christy’s Lane Beech Trees Could Be Felled For Lidl Store Works

There are concerns that Lidl may fell two more trees on Christy’s Lane because of damage to the beeches during works to build the new superstore.

Cllr Tim Cook says Dorset Council is investigating a breach of planning consent because the supermarket agreed to measures to protect the trees during the works.

Former Shaftesbury mayor Roger Booth arranged for the planting of eighty trees to mark the Queen Mother’s 80th birthday. Roger spoke at last night’s town council meeting and urged councillors to stand up for residents.
