Dorset Council’s decision to extend the period of car parking charging by two hours between 6pm and 8pm, Monday to Saturday, hasn’t been well-received in Shaftesbury.
Their plan to introduce Sunday fees between 8am and 8pm in the New Year appears to be unpopular, too.
The council say they do not need to consult anyone over this move and they need the money. But they are considering introducing a shoppers’ parking permit system, currently offered in the former West Dorset Council area. The permit costs £32 annually.
Today, they have launched a consultation.
