‘Years Of Uncertainty’ For Villagers Because Dorset Council ‘Offered’ The A50 For Dualling Study

Dorset Council will create ‘four years of uncertainty’ for anybody buying or selling a home along the A350 since they ‘offered up’ the route to the Highways Agency, so the road could be assessed for dualling.

That’s the view of The A350 Group, which represents eleven parish councils along the road, including Compton Abbas and Fontmell Magna.

The government wants to improve links between the M4 and the south coast. Trevor Clements from The A350 Group says, “I believe there’s a risk of it happening and the climate and ecological effect of creating a primary road through an AONB would be devastating.”

Alternative routes will also be scoped. The A350 group believe the A36, A37 or A338 would be more appropriate roads to upgrade.
