Failed Cash Payment System At Shaftesbury’s Car Parks Could Damage Local Business

The manager of Shaftesbury’s Tourist Information Centre is concerned that another Dorset Council problem could harm Shaftesbury businesses.

The authority has warned that their car parking payment machines may not be able to accept cash here and across their other Dorset car parks. The Council wants their app used for payments. Drivers can also pay using mobile phones.

David Taylor

The Council announced the problem yesterday, but David Taylor received an email from Dorchester last month warning of this issue. He says there has been ongoing payment problems which have been reported throughout 2021.

David is concerned that visitors unable to pay with cash will drive on to somewhere else. And David says some residents don’t use mobiles, so are unable to pay.
