A new Shaftesbury tourism website has gone live.
Last month, Shaftesbury Town Council considered awarding a £8,000 contract to promote the town to potential visitors using social media. Shaftesbury website developer James Hughes was asked to advise town councillors on ‘digital marketing’ during a council committee meeting.
This evening, the full council will decide whether the year-long contract is awarded to the recommended company, an agency in Somerset. But James believes that the town council’s response has been too slow and will miss the boom in post-lockdown staycationers.
James has launched a tourism website by redeveloping his existing site, ShaftesburyTown.co.uk. He wants to offer free promotion to tourism businesses, starting with accommodation providers.
