Councillor Supports New Lidl Store Sign As Revenge On Shaftesbury Tesco

Lidl wants to add another illuminated sign to its new store. It will overlook Tesco’s car park.

A Shaftesbury Town councillor wanted the Planning meeting to support the application, just to irritate Tesco. Cllr Piers Brown doesn’t believe Tesco’s reason for blocking the path between the new Lidl and the Tesco car park. Piers shares his strong opinions about how he views Tesco in our report.

Town councillors eventually recommended that Dorset Council turns down the application for the Lidl sign. Mayor Andy Hollingshead said it was ‘large’, ‘plastic’ and ‘not needed’ and would create light pollution.
